Do you wish your smile could be brighter? Do you have multiple cosmetic imperfections that dull the beauty of your smile? Esthetic issues can cause embarrassment and have a major impact on your self-esteem. Fortunately, a number of treatment options exist that can correct many of these issues, including porcelain veneers and teeth whitening. Which one will work best for your smile? Dr. Nikki Green of Fort Worth Cosmetic and Family Dentistry and Dr Ryan Knight will discuss the differences between these two treatment options.
In most cases, teeth whitening will be recommended to address unsightly teeth stains. Most stains are extrinsic stains, meaning they form on the surface as a result of the foods and drinks we consume. At Fort Worth Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, we offer two treatment options:
Addressing Multiple Imperfections
Veneers are shells of porcelain that are placed over the front of the teeth. For intrinsic teeth stains, which form below the surface and can’t be removed with traditional whitening options, veneers are a perfect solution. The porcelain material is strong, natural looking, and stain resistant. This unique treatment can also address other common dental issues, including:
This treatment option costs more than our brightening services, but does address multiple imperfections.
Which One is Right for Me?
Choosing which cosmetic treatment is best for you will depend on a number of factors. First, what is the extent of your esthetic issues? If you only have surface discoloration, teeth whitening may be enough. If you have permanent stains that don’t respond to traditional treatments, or if you have other imperfections such as tooth shape or tooth chipping, then veneers may be your best choice.
