Invisalign, Cosmetic Dentist, Smile MakeoverYour smile is like a visual handshake… you want it to be strong and welcoming since it can go a long way toward opening doors in both your personal and professional relationships.

But what if your teeth need straightening? At Fort Worth Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, both teens and adults have been asking us about Invisalign®—a revolutionary orthodontic treatment that offers significant advantages over traditional metal braces.

The clear, plastic Invisalign trays simply snap on over your upper and lower teeth. No uncomfortable, unsightly metal braces. No painful tightening or wires poking your mouth. Just trays that are custom designed to move your teeth in the right direction for optimal alignment.

We know you probably have a bunch of questions, and we’d like to take a moment to address some of the most common ones that we hear:

Is Invisalign Really Invisible?

The most significant and noticeable advantage of Invisalign is that the aligners are virtually invisible – a benefit that resonates with both image-conscious teens and adults who need to maintain a professional appearance. Unless they are up very close, most people won’t even know you’re wearing them.

Invisalign wearers tend to feel more confident and less self-conscious than their braces-wearing counterparts, which leads to increased self-esteem in both professional and social interactions.

Are Invisalign Trays Comfortable?

Invisalign trays are made of a smooth, thermoplastic material, making them much more comfortable than the wires and brackets of metal braces, which can often irritate your mouth and cut your gums and cheeks.

You may experience some initial tightness when adjusting to your new trays but this will ease with time. If you continue to experience discomfort, call our Fort Worth dental office so that Dr. Green can check the fit of your aligners.

How Do I Keep Invisalign Trays Clean?

Invisalign trays can be easily removed for thorough cleaning, brushing, flossing, and eating. In fact, many patients actually improve their home care because the trays are so easily removable – particularly when you compared them to braces, which can be difficult and time-consuming to brush.

Are There Any Food Restrictions with Invisalign?

Since the trays are removed for eating, there are no food or drink restrictions. You can enjoy that hard mint or chewy caramel without having to worry that it might get stuck in your braces or cause breakage (of course, be sure to brush your teeth before replacing your aligners!).

Invisalign strongly recommends keeping your trays in place for at least 22 hours per day for optimal results.

How Often Will I Need To Be Seen in Your Office?

Typically, patients who wear braces need to return frequently for check-ups and tightening or to replace broken wires or brackets.

Invisalign allows you to manage your own treatment to a significant extent. Dr. Green will provide you with a series of trays, each designed to gradually move your teeth in a certain direction. You replace your trays with new ones every two weeks, in the sequence that Dr. Green has specified. Each tray is custom-designed to focus on the movement of certain teeth.

With Invisalign, you will only need to visit our office every four to six weeks for routine checkups – a big plus for those with busy lifestyles.

A Beautiful Smile…During Your Treatment

With Invisalign, you don’t need to wait until your treatment is complete to experience the benefits of having a beautiful set of teeth. You can feel confident flashing your beautiful smile anytime, even while your teeth are being straightened.
